John Callahan's Obituary
John Callahan, age 81, of Ellendale, DE died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Harbor Healthcare & Rehab. Center in Lewes, DE. Mr. Callahan was born in Robinson County, NC , son of the late Moses and Stella (Locklear) Callahan.
Mr. Callahan served in the Navy during World War II, receiving a citation from the Defense Department for his work with mustard gas. Mr. Callahan & his wife had lived in Roselle, NJ for 30 years before moving to Delaware in 1968. He had worked as an electrician for General Motors Company in New Jersey, and had always excelled in any type of electrical work. He was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church in Milford, DE. Mr. Callahan was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Blanche (Beers) Callahan; five sons: Michael Callahan & wife Pam; Charles Callahan; Douglas Callahan & wife Betty; Dennis Callahan & wife Joann; and David Callahan; one daughter, Carol Payne & husband William; twenty two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2:30 PM at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, DE 19963, Pastor John Rainey will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE.
