John A. Broadhurst, NASA Retiree
John Alfred Broadhurst, 79, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009. He was born Nov. 27, 1930, to Irish immigrants in Scranton, PA.
Al started his career as a television announcer. He went on to serve the United States during the Korean War, and his career was jump started with the Defense Department. Al retired from NASA in 1980 and moved his family to Lewes. Al enjoyed reading, spending time with his family and entertaining others with his delightful voice.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Mary Broadhurst. Al was "Pa" to Anton, Mark, Wesley, Christopher and Samantha. Al's children, Sally, Norene, Jim, Mike and Nancy ask that friends and family remember their beloved father with prayers. They will forever hold him in their hearts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Thursday, October 8, at St. Jude the Apostle Church on Route 1 north of Five Points, Lewes, where friends may call at 10 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude The Apostle, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958.
