John A. Blaa's Obituary
John A. Blaa, age 78, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away at home on Monday, November 7, 2016. He was born in Chicago, IL, on June 14, 1938, son of the late Martin and Alvera (Wright) Blaa.
John proudly served in the United Stated Army for three years which led him to Fort Meade and to receiving his degree from the University of Baltimore. He retired in 1994 as a Bureau Chief with the FCC and has since thoroughly enjoyed many years of golf and poker games with his friends.
Mr. Blaa was a loving husband and father. He will be sorely missed by his 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. They will forever remember their beloved "PAP".
In addition to his parents, Mr. Blaa was preceded in death by his son, Jay in 1984. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Kathy Blaa; his children, Casey Hufnell (Gerry) and Meghan Edwards (Glenn); and his sister, Carolyn Oleksy (Bob) of Rancho, NM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
Interment will be private at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
