Obituary
John S. Belote, Jr., age 74, of Harrington, DE died Monday, November 28, 2005, at Bayhealth Center - Milford, DE. He was born March 26, 1931 in Nassawadox, VA son of the late John S. Belote, Sr. and the late Mabel Christine (Olsen) Belote.
Mr. Belote was involved with the horse racing industry all his life. At the young age of 15, Mr. Belote started training horses in the Chesapeake area. During his lifetime, he worked the eastern coast from Chesapeake to Yonkers, NY as a trainer, driver and consultant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Corrie (Mister) Belote (1979) and three sisters, Lucille Belote Heath, Dorothy N. Chandler, Christine Belote Arnold. He is survived by a daughter, Corrie B. Gelardi and her husband Skip of Eugene, OR; two sons, John S. Belote III and his wife Annette of Harrington, DE, and Harold K. Belote and his wife Sharon of Williamstown, NJ; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 1, 2005, 10 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE; Rev. Gary Tulak will be officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Capeville Church Cemetery, Capeville, VA, 2 PM; Rev. Alex Joyner will be officiating.
