I worked with John for many years, on the railroad. I've got great memories of John, and the kind of upstanding, intelligent, responsible, and friendly guy he was to work with. He was very impressive, in his wit, and in his humor. It was indeed a pleasure to know this wonderful man, and all the grace and direction he gave to all of us that worked with him.

As a crewchief on UH-1 helicopters I have flown with John many times and shared many Summer camps. He was one of the 'Good Guys' that is sometimes not easy to describe.
he was a very good pilot that I would fly with no matter what the mission would entail and know that if he pushed the limits, he had the ability and skills to keep us safe. The Summer Camps were enjoyable, the camaraderie is hard to explain to many. We spoke about all type of topics, our work, families, hobbies, Military experiences and whatever. We performed our Guard duties diligently and the flying was exhilarating. John was one of the people that I enjoyed interacting with whenever I saw him. My memories of him will always be with me as a 'Good Guy'

When we met John we knew we met someone very special. Throughout the years he not only was our neighbor, but a good friend. His unique sense of humor and his easy going manner will always be remembered. Steve and I want the family to know you are in our prayers and thoughts at this time.

Dear Allen Family: Chip and I offer our sincere sympathies to you all on John's passing. John was a very special man, who lived his life his way and oh what a life he lived!!!! I hope you find some peace in knowing this and the fact that he loved his family to the very core of his body. He will never be forgotten as long as there is a breath left in so many of his family and friends. Sadly, you never think of someone's life until they are gone, but I believe John knew he was loved so much. Dang, he did it all!!!!!
One little funny, I got that paper route after John gave it up. Yes, I rode my bike all over Chelsea in the wee hours of the morning and praying no one would see me!!!! I wonder how collecting from ppl worked out for him; bet he didn't have as many "no payers" as I had!
