Joan Helen Tetrault's Obituary
Joan Helen Bryson Tetrault, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, died peacefully at home on April 13, 2017. Born in Westborough, Massachusetts in 1932, Joan earned her masters’ degree in education and went on to a long career as a reading specialist for the Prince George’s County Public School System. She married Emery (Ted) Tetrault in 1955, and she was the devoted mother of five children: William, Joseph, Theresa, Robert, and Julie, and the loving grandmother of Charles, Elissa, Allaire, and Olivia.
Joan and Ted retired in 1996, relocating from Maryland to Rehoboth in fulfillment of their dream to be on Silver Lake. Even with the challenges of Ted’s Alzheimer’s and Joan’s cancer, she made a new home and a welcome respite for her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Joan made many friends with her various groups and activities: her cancer support group, quilting club, and the Bethany Library Book Club, to name a few. Joan loved reading, traveling, crafting, sewing, and decorating. She touched the lives of many, and their happiness was her greatest joy.
