Joan M. Porter, age 81, of Lewes, DE, formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes, DE surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 14, 1932 in Berwick, PA, da Read Obituary
Grandmom Joan you were an inspiration with your independence and vivaciousness. Thank you for your love and generosity to me and my family. You have taught me many things. I am greatful to be your granddaughter. I hope the family you and Grandpop Jerry makes you proud, pulls together and becomes closer. My heart smiles knowing you are in heaven with your husband and father.
While we didn't know Joan very well, she was our daughter-in-law's beloved grandmother and we know that she will be greatly missed by all of her family. Rest in peace, Joan. Our prayers are with Tina, Lisa and the rest of the family.
What a shock. Joan is usually calling me to see how I am doing. I had no idea she was ill.
It is ironic that her goodbyes are on the anniversary of Gerry's death, and also my birthday. We often talked about him dying on that date and now she joins the group.
She will be missed but my memories go back to Sunday school and later double dating with Joan and Jerry. When Jerry came to DuPont, he stayed with us for a short time. Over the years we kept the friendship, but at a distance. They went downstate, we camped. Our kids grew, we got old. And so it ends.
Blessings to the family, it was a privilege to have known Joan and Jerry.

I was sadden to hear about your Mothers death. I can remember well both of your parents. I remember when Joan was the Welcome Wagon representative. She introduced me to Steve Dalicki where I worked through high school and some holidays after that.
