Joan M. Noel's Obituary
Joan Marie Noel passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019. She was born in York, PA on April 25, 1940 to Anna and Marlett Arnold. She was a member of Bethany Moravian Church on East King Street and graduated from William Penn Sr. High School in 1958. On March 6, 1960, Joan and her best friend and always loving husband, Jack Noel married, celebrating 59 years this year of 2019. They were blessed with 2 sons, Jeffrey in 1964 and Todd in 1967. They now have 4 grandchildren: Zachary Noel, Katlyn Noel, Jordan Noel, and Tiffany Tisdel; 2 great-grandchildren: Noah Tisdel and Delainie Tisdel; and Todd's wife, Elizabeth.
Over the years, the couple and their children have enjoyed horseback riding, ice skating, swimming, sailing, canoeing, water-skiing, fishing, crabbing, hiking, camping, and cruising together.
Joan's work experience included being a teacher's aide with Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 in York, PA, working with challenged children and also working part-time in a group home with challenged young adults.
After moving to Lewes, DE in 1991, Joan worked with the YMCA of Rehoboth Beach as a preschool teacher, and at Bethel Church in Lewes and in Millsboro, DE. The children and parents all loved and respected "Miss Joan". Later, for several years, Joan and her husband operated a licensed preschool in their home in Angola. Joan was involved in the Women's Social Group, the Recreation Committee, Stitch Group, talent shows, and many activities in the Angola by the Bay community. In Delaware and Pennsylvania she was recognized for making great baked goods and first place, award-winning crocheted and knitted creations at State and International Fairs. Her husband Jack and sons, Jeff and Todd, would tell you that Joan was a true "angel". She never raised her voice and never said a swear word; not even "heck" or "darn" (really, never!). Joan did have opinions and shared in all decisions in their lives. She was smart, savvy, had great common sense, and you just couldn't help but to love her. She and her husband were always best friends, who just happened to be married. Joan was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
All services will be private.
