I've been thinking about how warmly Joan welcomed me into the family 50 years ago, less like a sister-in-law and much more like a sister. When I became a single mom to a toddler, she and Michael included me in years of fantastic family trips and vacations. I had very little money and without their kindness and generosity this wouldn't have been possible. In her prime, I remember her embracing life and especially her family with such gusto! By her example I learned how to navigate life as a divorced mother and how not to define myself as a victim. There were certainly phases of her life as time when on when loving her unconditionally became a bit more challening but she never lost her sparkle and there was never any doubt about how firecely she adored her family and friends. May Joan rest in peace and may her memory always be for a blessing. Lots of love from Gail.
