Jimmie D. Moore's Obituary
Jimmie D. Moore , age 87, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on Friday, August 21, 1925, son of the late Jimmie D. and Pearl (Buncasel) Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Mascione and his step-father, William "Bud" Brown.
Mr. Moore was a Staff Sergeant in the US Marine Corp serving in Okinawa during WWII. After the war he was employed by Abbotts Dairy in Philadelphia for 39 years as a machine operator. He was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church and the American Legion, Post #28, both in Oak Orchard.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He never missed his son's football games at LaSalle High School in Philadelphia.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Mark Noble for his kindness and compassion in caring for Jimmie and to Delaware Hospice for its professional and emotional support.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 64.5 years, Agnes E. (Haughey) Moore; three sons: James M. Moore and his wife Dorothy of Orlando, FL, Bruce R. Moore and his wife Julia of Milton, DE and Robert J. Moore and his wife Lindsey of Norristown, PA; five grandsons: Douglas Moore and his wife Beth, Christopher Moore and his wife Lauren, Neal, Scott and Theodore Moore; three granddaughters: Marisa, Danielle and Courtney Moore; and six great-grandchildren: Sybilla, Aiden, Piper, Christopher, Justin and Loralai Moore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 17, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, DE. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow Mass at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
Memorial contributions are suggested for Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
