Jesse H. Champlin's Obituary
Jesse H. Champlin, age 89 of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. Mr. Champlin was born on July 27, 1920 in Havre de Grace, MD, son of the late Wesley K and May E. (Hubbard) Champlin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne T. (Wilson) Champlin who died on November 12, 2008 and two brothers and one sister.
An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Champlin was a Flight Officer and Navigator with the Army Air Corp serving in the European theatre. Over the years he had various management positions working in the DE, PA and the NJ area. In 1973, Mr. Champlin started his career with Congoleum Industries as a custodian and retired as a Plant Manager specializing in Floor Covering.
An avid fisherman, he enjoyed spending time on the Inland Waterways and Rehoboth Bay boating and surf fishing. He enjoyed golfing and was also a former member of the Sussex Pines Golf Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Jessica Smith & husband George of Florida; two sons: Lawrence Champlin and wife Mary of Lewes, DE and Charles Champlin of Wilmington, DE; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
A Chapel Committal Service will be held at the Delaware Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966 on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM with full military honors. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
