Jennifer Killeen Dupree's Obituary
Jennifer Killeen Dupree, 65, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, passed away on June 27, 2026.
Born on November 7, 1960, in Binghamton, New York, Jennifer was the daughter of Louis Merrow Killeen and Frances Gerhaeusser Killeen. She graduated from Parsippany High School before continuing her education at St. Lawrence University and Hahnemann University, where she studied Fine Arts, Psychiatry, Counseling, and Creative Arts in Therapy. Her profound empathy and compassionate nature found their natural calling in her decades-long career as a psychotherapist, clinical manager, and hospice liaison.
On June 24, 2006, Jennifer married her forever tennis partner, David Dupree. Together, they shared 20 years of marriage built on love, laughter, unwavering partnership, and a commitment to blending their families and building a home. This devotion was evident in Jennifer’s relationship with her granddaughter, Margaret, for whom she would drive hours each week to care for.
Jennifer was a prolific maker with a distinct sense of creative confidence and ingenuity, spanning her interior design projects, culinary exploration, and lush gardens. As a volunteer for Rehoboth In Bloom, the Village Improvement Association of Rehoboth Beach, and an active board member of the Rehoboth Beach Gardens neighborhood association, Jennifer devoted her free time to improving and beautifying her home and her community.
Most notably, Jennifer was a dedicated ceramicist. In her retirement, she worked as an Assistant Ceramics Instructor and Gallery Associate at the Rehoboth Art League. Her compassion for others took physical form in her Angel Wings - handmade ceramic wings gifted to those grieving a loved one. Shortly after her passing, close friend and fellow ceramicist, Kate Lear, crafted 88 Angel Wings in her honor.
Jennifer was an avid tennis player and fierce competitor. An active member of the US Tennis Association, she competed in leagues and tournaments throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. Jennifer was also a proud ‘Softball Mom’ to her daughter, Quinn, enthusiastically supporting her accomplished college softball career. You would often find Jennifer and husband, David, cheering from the bleachers, accompanied by Bluto, the Dupree family’s late french bulldog.
Jennifer’s loss is deeply felt throughout the greater Rehoboth Beach community. Whether friends, neighbors, servers, contractors, or cashiers, Jennifer knew everyone on a first-name basis. She knew their families' names, their struggles, and where their children went to college. It's no surprise that Jennifer was voted Most Spirited, Class Artist, Most Dependable, and Best All-Round in her high school senior class. She had a gift for making others feel important and needed.
Jennifer is survived by her husband, David; her daughter, Quinn Ursprung; her step-children, Nicole (and husband Christopher), Phillip, Eric, and Claire; her granddaughter, Margaret; and sister, Melissa Killeen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Frances Killeen; sister, Margaret (Peggy) Brown; and her brother, James (Jim) Killeen.
