I still have such great memories of serving with Jeff on the USS Bremerton. He was always looking out for the rest of us and was so quick to lend a hand—honestly, he was one of my very first real role models in the Navy. He threw himself into the work with so much passion, which is exactly how he tackled everything else in his life.
Being on a sub means bouncing around a lot, and living in places like Hawaii and San Diego really left a mark on him. You could tell that his time in the service sparked this huge, lifelong love for traveling and just getting out there to explore. The Bremerton covered a lot of water out in the Pacific back then, and Jeff was right there in the thick of it, making a real difference.
