I first met Jeff in a night club in Dover in the late 1970’s, while I was attending college, but home for the summer. I was sitting at the bar on a tall chair when he approached me and struck up a conversation. We chatted for a while, and he bought me a drink, after which the music turned slow and he asked me to dance. I laughed a bit and told him we’d have to wait for a Fast dance. As he asked why, I stepped down off the chair to reveal I was only 4’11”! He laughed also, but still was fine with sharing a slow dance and got quite a humorous kick out of dancing with someone so much shorter than he. We then also danced to a fast dance. He later gave me his card and asked me to let him know when ever I’d be in Dover… but actually I didn’t have to, because he always seemed to be at what ever night club I happened to attend while home, though purely by chance. We never dated, but remained friends, and always had at least one dance when at the same venue. Soon after, to my surprise, he started dating, and eventually married my BFF, with whom he had two wonderful sons, along with becoming a stepdad to his new wife’s lovely young daughter. He had always wanted a family with children, and ended up with three beautiful kids. They were obviously his joy in life, as were the beautiful four grandkids they gave him. Jeff loved life, and he will be dearly missed. May he Rest in Peace and Live On Forever in our Hearts and Memories.
