Jeanne had the biggest heart. She had the ability to make everyone around her feel happy; her giggle was infectious. When I first met her brother, Chet, we were in eighth grade, and he was telling me about his siblings. He described Jeanne as follows: She was the fun one, loves to have a great time. And that never changed. Chet and I were visiting Jeanne when she lived in the country. A mouse appeared in the living room and was quickly evicted. And then there was another mouse which was also evicted, and another, and another. We finally figured out that it was the same mouse. And we all laughed, but it was Jeanne's giggle that I remember the most. While visiting Jeanne another time we heard her scalding her huge German Shepherd, Ben. He just ate all the butter that was on the counter that was for a cake Jeanne was going to make. Her annoyance was quickly replaced when her great sense of humor kicked in and she giggled and made light of the situation. In addition to Jeanne's warm and wonderful personality I remember her serious side. When Jeanne was a nurse and taking care of newborns, it was so clear that she loved her job. We loved hearing her tell us about the new arrivals of the day. And I remember when Jeanne saw that an elderly lady had not been bathed properly and she took it upon herself to do so. She had been very upset that this lady's care had been neglected. There are so many stories to tell that show the funny and compassionate side of Jeanne. Jeanne's capacity to endure her illness with the best attitude is a tribute to her amazing personality. Jeanne, I miss you and I miss that giggle. Arlene Austin
