Jeane M. Vest's Obituary
Jeane M. Vest, age 83, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on August 14, 1928, daughter of the late Edward Joseph and Norene Catherine (Schauer) Meade.
Mrs. Vest graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Memphis, TN and attended Siena College in Memphis. She spent many years as the Credit Manager at both Paper Mate Pen Company in Chicago, IL, and at the Gillette Company in Boston, MA. Her final career move was with the Wang Computer Company in Lowell, MA where she was THE Contract Manager. She retired to Rehoboth Beach, DE in the early 1990’s. She was a lady of many accomplishments, her premier one was being the first female executive with the Gillette Company. Other organizations she supported and served with her many talents once she relocated to Delaware included: President of the Village Improvement Association, the Delaware State Board of Nursing, and the Sussex Republican Committee. Also, she was a member of Sussex Pines Country Club and an avid golfer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 41 years, George W. Vest (October 2007) and her brother Jim Meade She is survived by her brother John Meade and wife Jennie of Preston, MD; her sister-in-law Patricia Meade of Memphis, TN; niece Barbara Carnie and husband Price of Nashville, TN; and nephew James Meade and wife Ann Marie of Gaithersburg, MD.
All services in Delaware are private and are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10:30 AM at East Dubuque Cemetery, Hill Street east of US Rt. 20, East Dubuque, IL. Friends may call Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Miller Funeral Home, 1185 Route 35 N, East Dubuque.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Mrs. Vest to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
