Jean Barnes Nichols' Obituary
Jean Barnes Nichols, 92, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, died on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. She was born April 17, 1918 in New Market, VA, daughter of the late Herbert and Elma (Grabill) Barnes.
Mrs. Nichols lived in Rehoboth Beach for 26 years following her retirement from the Suburban Trust Co., Silver Spring, MD. Prior to moving to the beach full-time, she had a vacation home in Sea Air for some 20 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Ira Nichols (2002) and by her brother Robert Barnes. She is survived by two daughters: Marilyn Perkins and husband Denny of Georgia and Barbara Parks and husband Bill of Maryland; a son Ray Nichols and wife Lelanie of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a brother William Barnes and wife Florence of Maryland; and a sister-in-law Evelyn Smith of Virginia.
The family will gather on Monday, April 18, 2011, 1:00 PM, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE where she will be entombed with her late husband. Friends are welcome to join the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
