Jane C. Hicks' Obituary
Jane C. Hicks of Lewes, DE, passed away on January 8, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jane was 87 years old.
Born on June 1, 1937, in Glenside, PA. Jane was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Ciocca. In 1959 Jane married Edwin J. Hicks , Jr. Together, and together they raised three children.
Jane was dedicated to her work and enjoyed a career in tax preparation before working as a realtor with Patterson-Schwartz in Dover, DR and later with Lingo Realty in Lewes, DE. She was known for her strong work ethic, and integrity throughout her career.
An avid hostess, Jane enjoyed dining out, entertaining family and friends, and create lasting memories with those she most admired and loved. Jane will be remembered for her strength as she fought her illness with grace and dignity. Her family is forever grateful for the compassionate care provided by her dedicated caregivers.
Jane was predeceased by her husband, Edwin J. Hicks, Jr. in 2012. Jane is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne Werszner (Scott), son, Edwin J. Hicks III (Dorothy) and son Carl J. Hicks (Tracy). In addition, she also leaves behind brother-in-law, Joseph Hicks (Bobbi) and sister-in-law, Mary Louise Stephens. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Peter Werszner (Katie), Brian Werszner (Stephanie), Edwin J. Hicks IV (Katie) and Ryan Hicks, along with her great-granddaughter, Tate Werszner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jane's memory to The Home of the Brave Foundation in Milford; the Tunnel Cancer Center in Lewes or to the charity of choice.
A celebration of Jane's life will be held at a later date.
