Jane Eleanora DeGrange's Obituary
Jane DeGrange, age 92, passed away on Sat. August 24, 2013 at Cadbury of Lewes. She was born on October 16, 1920 in Camp Hill, Pa, daughter of the late Irene (nee Greenwood) and Herman G. Wueschinski. Over the years her place of residency included Washington,D.C., Ellicott City, Maryland, Wilmington, Delaware, Elizabeth, New Jersey, Pinewater Farms, Harbeson, DE, and recently as a resident of Cadbury in Lewes, DE. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband John E. DeGrange on December 26, 2005.
Mrs. DeGrange received her undergraduate degree from Millersville State College and completed her graduate studies at the University of Maryland and University of Delaware.
During her career she held teaching and administrative positions in various Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey school systems and completed her career with retirement as the Dean of Student Affairs, Goldey Beacom College, Wilmington, DE.
Her hobbies included gardening, sailing and traveling. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed entertaining friends at the Five O'clock hour.
Mrs. DeGrange was a member of many varied professional organizations as well as the Village Improvement Association of Rehoboth Beach and the Homeowner Association of Pinewater Farms in Harbeson where she was a past president. For many years she served on the Altar Guild at St George's Chapel, Harbeson, DE and had served as Vender Chairperson for the All Saints Antique show and sale for many years.
Her survivors include her son, David C. DeGrange and his wife Kathleen; granddaughters, Aimee K. McManus and Dawn D. Yerace; great grand children, Declan, Merritt Jane, Will Mcmanus "JD" and Alexandra Yerace.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday Sept 7, 2013 at St. George’s Episcopal Chapel, 20274 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson, DE with burial in the adjoining churchyard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jane DeGrange Scholarship Fund, Goldey Beacom College, 4701 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808
