Jamie Ellen Gormley's Obituary
Jamie Ellen Gormley passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 8, 2023, at her home in Lewes, DE. She was born on April 2, 1963, daughter of the late James A. Gormley Jr. and Elinor (née Gibbons) Gormley.
Jamie grew up in Montville Township, NJ and also lived in Morris Township, NJ, before moving to Lewes 5 years ago.
Jamie was a graduate of Montville Township High School and attended Lock Haven University. She played field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse at MTHS earning All-State honors along the way. Jamie was a member of the 1981 MTHS Field Hockey team that captured the Group III State title that year. She enjoyed a long career of caring for others, which began at The ARC Morris in Morris Plains, NJ, where she managed a residential group home and eventually supervised The Hanover Adult Training Center. Her passion for helping others led to several opportunities in the Senior Living field, most notably as an Executive Director of Atria Senior Living in Cranford, NJ, and then as an Assisted Living Coordinator at Sunrise Assisted Living in Morris Plains, NJ. To quote someone close to the family, “Jamie was an amazing person whose love for some of life’s most vulnerable people speaks volumes to her character and soul.”
Jamie is survived by her sisters: Kathleen Stahl (Michael) of Boonton Township, NJ, Susan Hegarty (Michael) of Brussels, Belgium, Sally Dreyer (Russell) of Madison, NJ, and Maureen Gormley (fiancé Wayne Linn) of Montville, NJ; her beloved nieces and nephews; and her aunts and uncles and many cousins. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 19th, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at St. Pius X Church, 24 Changebridge Road, Montville, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.
