I met Jim back in 1977 when he and his beautiful family warmly welcomed me as an AFS exchange student.
He went out of his way to introduce me to his family and friends, and spend time fishing, watching live Sixers and Phillies games and going on a river pilot voyage in his work.
Jim left an enduring mark on me on how to be a better person by being thoughtful, honest, giving back to the community and always having words of encouragement.
It was an honour to have met Jim and I will always remember his big heart and the genuine happiness and inspiration he brought to people.
I met Jim about a year ago at the Moorings. I drive a bus and would take him to his appointments, but he really liked the scenic drive I would take him and others on. He would always applaud when we got back, which made the others applaud. When I first got him on the bus in his wheelchair, he would always say, Are we going to Annapolis? I would say not today Jim. Someone may say something about the weather and he would say well at least it's not snowing. Once in awhile he would ask if we were going to New Jersey. He laughed a lot at things I would joke about. He and I got close and I will miss him. As a lot of people will. RIP my friend..... Lon Blair

Steve and family, sincere condolences for the loss of your Dad - what a life he led. There's no comfort I can likely give, but when I've experienced loss ,I've found comfort in this -" I am standing on the sea shore, a ship sails in the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her till at last she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says: “She is gone.” Gone! Where? Gone from my sight—that is all."
