Joan,
Richard Plant here from the SUNY Maritime College Class of 1967. I want to state that we just found out today about our loss of another classmate and we are all so sorry for you and your family.
Jim was a good classmate and shipmate and I know he will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Jim's classmates are being notified today so do expect more comments from the Engineers who were especially close to Jim.
Kindest Regards,

Dear Joan and family,
I was stunned and very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I only knew him as a fellow tax preparer with the TaxAide program but enjoyed his company. He was a special guy and obviously crazy about his family.
My sympathy to you all and prayer for God's comfort and blessing in your sorrow.
Sincerely, Debbie Dawson
Dear Joan and children,
My sincere condolences on Jim's passing, I'm so sorry.

I worked with Jim for quite some time. I enjoyed taking many photos in the shop for Jim. Any time that I needed info on a past job, I would go to Jim and he would always find the answer or head me in the direction of someone that could also help. Although it was my job to do so, Jim always thanked me for doing it. Enjoyed my talks with him as we shared stories of trip to the Hawaiian islands. Yes Jim was very special. I will miss that he is gone.

Jimmy and I are cousins. Jim is a kind, gentle, caring man who always had a smile on his face. He is so proud of his family of six (Craig, Brian, Matthew, Michael, Susan, Molly and his grandchildren). Jim and Joan have raised a great successful family who are now adults. Jim married Joan and we loved her so much that we asked Joan to be our first daughter's Godmother. Eddie is Susan's Godfather and I am Matthew's Godmother. We felt very honored. We had great times together. We had a wonderful visit with Jim and Joan two summers ago. One of our great memories! Our prayers are with Joan and all of the family. Love you! Eddie & Eileen xo
Our sincerest condolences to Joan and the entire Maguire family. Jim and I were not only colleagues at Dresser-Rand but also good friends outside of work. When Jim's son Craig married my sister Diana I felt like it was the merging of our families. Jim's unexpected death is another stark reminder of how important it is to live life to the fullest and to cherish the time we have with family and friends because we never know when God will call us home.

Maguire family - we are keeping you in our prayers during this time. Jim was one of the best guys I worked with during our time at D-R and while we didn’t always agree, we ALWAYS remained friends.
I will continue to remember the good times we had and I know he was proud of his family
