James G. Klabe's Obituary
James G. Klabe, Sr., age 83 of Lewes, DE passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015, at the Delaware Hospice Center, in Milford, DE. He was born on Sunday, July 17, 1932 in Wilmington, DE, son of the late Alfred B. and Ella (Denn) Klabe.
Mr. Klabe proudly served his country with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he embarked on a career in insurance with Prudential, where he retired from after 34 years of dedicated service as a Sales Manager.
After retirement, Mr. Klabe began his own business where he could utilize his extensive carpentry talents. In 1992 Klabe Custom Carpentry was born, a business he operated with his son by his side. The Klabe reputation would soon be recognized throughout the state of Delaware.
Some of Mr. Klabe's favorite pastimes were fishing, traveling and playing the slots. Above all else, he was endlessly devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the apples of his eyes. Mr. Klabe was a very outgoing, generous man, who could quickly turn a stranger into a friend. He cherished every relationship whether it was business or personal. Mr. Klabe will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Klabe was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred R. Klabe. Mr. Klabe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Norma Klabe of Lewes, DE; 2 sons, James G. Klabe, Jr and his wife Shelly of Wilmington, DE; Kevin S. Klabe and his wife Nathalie of Lewes, DE; a daughter, Kim Klabe of Rehoboth Beach, DE and 7 grandchildren, Allyson, Amy, Dustin, Michael, Jeff, Haley, Katie and a sister in-law, Virginia Fischer and her husband Jim of Wilmington, DE.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 11 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10 AM. Interment with Military Honors will immediately follow services at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton, DE.
