James Alan Justice's Obituary
James Alan Justice, of Milton, DE passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years old.
James was born on July 2, 1946, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of the late Ruey A. and Clarice (Stidham) Justice. He spent his teenage years in Denver, Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Martha. The two shared 60 years of marriage, building a life defined by devotion, hard work, and steadfast support for family and friends.
A proud United States Army veteran, James retired with the rank of First Sergeant after a distinguished military career. He served honorably in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for Heroism, along with three Bronze Stars. His service to his country remained one of his greatest sources of pride.
Following his retirement from the Army, James worked for J.B. Hunt Transport Company, where he took special pride in helping fellow veterans find meaningful employment. He later spent many years selling vehicles, a career well-suited to his lifelong enthusiasm for automobiles.
James and his wife traveled extensively, living and working for many years in Germany, Spain, and Italy.
James enjoyed golfing, smoking his cigars, and had a soft spot for animals in need, often bringing home stray dogs and cats. He was a hardworking and dedicated father, a loving husband, and a man with a good and generous heart who lived life to the fullest.
James is survived by his loving wife, Martha Ann (Hitchcock) Justice; his daughter, Lori Ann Joslin-Bentivegna and son in-law Joseph Bentivegna of Dover, Delaware; his siblings, Bill Justice of Portsmouth, Ohio, Nancy Lohman of Denver, Colorado, and Cheryl Justice of Las Vegas, Nevada; and two grandsons, James Joseph Joslin of Milton, Delaware, and Dylan Michael Joslin of New Jersey, as well as his cherished great-grandson, Zachary Michael Joslin, also of New Jersey.
A Chapel Committal will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro on February 20, 2026, at 2PM.
