I came to know Jim during my college years. He was a wonderful stepfather to my best friend Sara and her sister Liz. He had a wonderful sense of humor, deep love for animals and always a smile and welcome demeanor when I would visit the home. Lois’s smile was all the evidence you’d need to see just how loved she felt and how loved Jim was by her. My deepest condolences to all who loved him, especially his sons Jim and Danny, Sara and Liz and most of all, his loving wife and partner, Lois.

I knew Jim for over 40 years. He was a very devoted father and such a loving husband to my dear sister Lois. He was kind, thoughtful and generous in every way. He seemed to always be thinking of ways to help others. When our parents got sick he took charge of helping them in so many ways and took such a burden off our shoulders, and they really loved him. He was quiet, but always observant, and always quick to laugh. We will all miss him, but we know he is resting in peace.

I’m still fairly new to this wonderful family, but Dad found his way into my heart from the moment I met him. He was a man of few words, yet it didn’t take long to see that there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his sons — or for my happiness. Even in these last few months, he never wanted to be a burden. He was always more concerned about what we were going through than about himself.

He insisted on buying airline tickets so Jim and I could spend Christmas with my family in Texas. And don’t even try to pick up the tab at dinner — though I did manage to win that battle once.

Someone asked me recently if I ever wished I had met certain people earlier in life. When it comes to Dad, the answer is absolutely yes.

I will miss you each and every day.
