James Joseph Coyle's Obituary
James Joseph Coyle passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 4, 2026, at home, surrounded by the love of his family, after a hard but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering love for his family touched everyone who knew him.
James was born on September 24, 1947 in Abington PA. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sandra Coyle; his brother, Joseph Coyle; his three children, Michele Brobyn, Kevin Coyle, and Michael Coyle; and his cherished grandchildren, Autumn, Aiden, Austin, and Hunter Brobyn. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Coyle; his brothers, William (Billy), Albert (Buddy), and Robert (Bobby) Coyle; and his beloved grandson, Michael Cailen Brobyn.
After proudly serving his country in the United States Army for two years, Jim dedicated 43 years of his life as a machinist at SPS Technologies in Jenkintown PA. His strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to excellence earned the respect of his colleagues throughout his career.
Upon retirement, Jim and Sandy made their home in Lewes, Delaware, where they embraced the slower pace of coastal life. He had always found great joy in long walks along the beach, collecting seashells and driftwood, or just listening to the waves crash onshore. Jim began volunteering with Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park shortly after his move to Lewes. He was passionate about preserving the natural beauty of the beaches and park he loved and took pride in giving back to the community that had become his home.
Jim also had a remarkable gift for gardening. His yard reflected his patient care and creativity, bursting almost year-round with vibrant flowers and carefully tended plants. James had a remarkable ability to find beauty in simple things and to share that beauty with others. He especially enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements and crafts, sharing them with family and friends as expressions of love and thoughtfulness.
More than anything, Jim will be remembered for his gentle heart, steady presence, quiet sense of humor, and the unconditional love he gave to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest happiness came from caring for the people he loved. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his generosity, humility, and kindness.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Parsell Funeral Home, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, Delaware 19958. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park, an organization that was especially close to Jim's heart. Through volunteer projects, fundraising, wildlife conservation, beach cleanups, and educational programs, the organization helps preserve the beauty of the park and its beaches for generations to come.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Jim's love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will remain with us always. His footprints may no longer mark the sand, beside us, but his memory will forever be carried in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love him.
