James Edward Brown's Obituary
James (Jim) E Brown Sr, 80, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2026, while under home Hospice Care surrounded by his wife and friends.
Jim was born in Dearborn, Michigan on March 4, 1946 to the late Scoon and Delta (Thompson) Brown. He graduated from Gloversville High School in 1964.
Jim worked as a Salesman for the Leader Herald, Johnstown Dodge and other sales oriented jobs, retiring from Alpin Haus RV of Saratoga in 2014. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing with his son Jim. He was actively involved in the Johnstown Lions Club of Fulton County NY, and held many elected positions and it was his great honor to be awarded Lion of the Year. Jim also had a part in starting the Fonda-Fultonville Lions Club.
In 2015, he and wife Betty retired to Seaford, DE. Jim made many friends and even learned to play the guitar from his close friend Chuck BenSavage. He loved taking long walks with his friend Christopher and meeting people, especially their dogs! Jim and his daughter Cyndi, enjoyed many bird watching excursions at Trapp Pond and spotting an eagle was always the highlight. He was a fan of the Delmarva Shorebirds baseball team and attended many games with his friends. Jim attended Bethel Worship Center regularly and enjoyed Pastor Joe LaCates sermons along with the music.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth J (Anderson-Smith) of 31 years, his daughter Cyndi (Mike) Seeley, Grandchildren Jeffrey (Trisha) Pritchard of Beaverton, OR, Justin (Amber) Pritchard of Lancaster, PA and John (Alicia) Hallenbeck of Pottsville, PA, great grand children Lillian and Myles Hallenbeck and nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by step son Randolph (Christine) Smith, his children Shayla Smith, Skylar Smith, Randolph Smith Jr and Stepson Jason (Susan) Smith and their daughter Alixis.
Jim is preceded in death by his son James E Brown Jr., brother Robert (Barbara) Brown, sisters Dorothy (Daniel) McNiven and Viva (Donald) Frye.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Delaware Hospice and to the kind and caring nurses (Tracy), CNAs (Ella) and to Leiya Bullock, LMSW.
There will be a private service at a later date at Kings Cemetery in Northampton.
