Irving "Sonny" Albert Stedman, Jr.'s Obituary
Irving Albert Stedman, Jr. "Sonny", age 72, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Vienna, VA, passed away at home on Thursday, November 15, 2018. He was born on June 20, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Irving A. Stedman, Sr. and Evelyn (Sutterley) Stedman.
Mr. Stedman graduated from West Chester State College in PA with his BS in philosophy. He then honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he served as a linguist and analyst for the US Embassy in Nicosia, Cypress. Following his service he worked as a financial planner, specializing in executive life insurance. He worked for various agencies in Washington, DC where he enjoyed several years ranked as one of the top agents in the country.
Mr. Stedman was an avid genealogist, loving to research his family's history. He traveled extensively to study and explore his family’s lineage. He also loved the ocean and enjoyed countless sunsets over the Rehoboth Beach Bay.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stedman was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Stedman. He is survived by his loving husband and best friend Bruce A. Savage of Lewes, DE; two sisters: Doris Hood of Philadelphia, PA and Carole D'Annunzio and her husband Vincent of Malvern, PA; numerous nieces and nephews; countless beloved friends; and last but not least, his two loving cats Mary Margaret Rose and Sebastian.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Stedman's name to the Grass Roots Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 187, Camden, DE 19934.
