My memory of Renie begins about 24 years ago when she rented next door to Loyd and
me in Rehoboth and how we played a role in how she left Baltimore and permanently moved to Rehoboth. We visited every day and as the summer went on and was coming to and end, she told me she did not want to go back to Baltimore. That was all I needed and the search began. We surprised Michael with the news the weekend he came to take her home. Before the weekend was over, she had found a new home and was off to Baltimore to sell her house, pack up and settle down in Rehoboth for the next 24 years. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and witty exchanges, especially with Michael, her devoted son, deserving a Nobel Prize for taking such good care of her during her waning years.
Michael-I am so sorry for your loss!! I really enjoyed meeting you and your mom and working with her when she was at Cadbury for rehab. Praying for you during this difficult time. Robin Palumbo Thompson
Mrs. Vitak, or "Michael's mother", which is how I knew her, was such a dear soul. I looked forward to seeing her nearly every Sunday at Epworth UM Church, and always commented on how pretty she looked. She always said that Michael dressed her, and that he did a pretty good job. She so reminded me of my own dear mother, and it was a joy to see her. Praying for comfort and peace for Michael and the rest of the family. She was a wonderful lady indeed.
She has been my best friend for over fifty years. We moved in next door to Renie and George shortly after we were married. George and Renie were the best neighbors anyone could ask for. When the children came along they spoiled them as if they were their own. We shared many Saturday nights playing games with the children and then playing cards. They helped us move my parents to Virginia in a U-Haul truck. We ran out of gas in a snowstorm, but hat memories we have of that trip. Friends like this don't come along every day.
We didn't see much of Renie after we moved to Virginia 22 years ago, but we stopped by every time we got near Rehoboth Beach. We did get to see her and Michael two summers ago, and I could not believe how well she was and how she was still her happy, pleasant and caring self. Michael was the best son a Mother could wish for.
Rest in Peace our Very Very Good Friend. Love you forever,
Jim and Betty
A wonderful lady who always brought a smile and a laugh to everyone she met! She will be remembered always. Condolences to her family
