Howard Henry Owens' Obituary
Howard Henry Owens, age 86 of Bethany Beach, formerly of the District of Columbia and Hamilton, VA. passed away peacefully at the Cadia Renaissance Nursing Home in Millsboro, DE on Friday January 12, 2024. Howard was born in Warrenton, VA on December 2, 1937, son of the late Frank Berkley and Mildred (Campbell) Owens.
He left home at an early age and went to Florida where he learned the construction business and made that his life’s work. He was most proud of the work he did in revitalization of row houses in the District of Columbia.
He was an avid baseball fan, playing himself briefly in the minors. He coached youth baseball, girls’ softball, and women’s softball for several years, bringing home a few championship trophies. He was so happy to see DC bring baseball back with the Washington Nationals.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Susan Tripodi and his son Murray Alexander Owens and a daughter Illa Jane (Janie) Owens (Jay) and numerous grand-children and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Priscilla Ann Owens and 3 children, John Calvin (JC) Owens Frank Berkeley (Frankie) Owens III and most recently his daughter Sandra Lynn (Lynnie) Owens.
A mass of Christian burial to be held at a later date.
