Howard Joy's Obituary
Howard Solomon Joy, Jr., also known as "Mr. Hootie", age 82, of Seaford, DE, passed away Monday, October 8, 2007, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE. He was born February 21, 1925 in Lansdowne, MD, son of the late Howard Solomon Joy, Sr. and Ira (Jones) Solomon.
Mr. Hootie had a long career as a Master Plasterer in the construction industry with Schatz & Schatz Co., Houston, DE. He was a member of the VFW in Lansdowne, MD and the American Legion Post #17, Lewes. He enjoyed fishing, gambling at the casino's and telling jokes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Joy. He is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Frances Bertrand of Lewes and several nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 15, 11 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Legion Post #17, American Legion Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
