Horace "Hank" Campagnini's Obituary
Horace "Hank" Campagnini age 79, of Lewes DE, previously of Marydel DE, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family, on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Milford Hospice Center. He was born on February 6, 1939 in Chester PA, son of the late Anthony and Mary (Suchan) Campagnini. He grew up in Marcus Hook, PA.
On December 22, 1972, he married the love of his life, Dorothy "Dottie" (Shumate) Campagnini. Together they shared 46 wonderful years. When he was a young man, he loved to dance and gather with friends. He loved the beach so in his spare time, Mr. Campagnini would go boating, fishing, crabbing and swimming. Above all else, he enjoyed making memories with his family, especially the little ones. He was a wonderful, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Campagnini was preceded in death by his daughter, Deanna Campagnini. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Campagnini of Lewes, DE; his children: Marge Eckhard and her husband Ken of Clayton, DE, Anthony Campagnini and his wife Lori of Marydel, MD, Stanley Jankowski and his wife Becky of Pittsfield, MA, and Amy Campagnini-Nogueira and her husband Wanderson of Georgetown, DE; two brothers: Anthony Campagnini and his wife Francine of Aston PA, and Stephen Campagnini of Dover DE. Mr. Campagnini also had 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; a very close family friend, Darlene Bush of Rehoboth Beach DE; and two very special people who he thought of as his daughters, Tiffany Kersey of Milford DE and Diana Saunders of Lewes DE.
He worked and sailed on the ship “Sunoco Dynafuel”, where he even sailed as far as Turkey, for several years before starting a 12-year career at Allied Chemical. In 1973, he became a partner and owner of Dover Auto body with his brother, Steve Campagnini. This is where he spent many happy years until he retired at 70. He worked with many of his children, his granddaughter, and nieces and nephews, and great nephews. His greatest memories were working side by side with his brother and all the children.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Campagnini's memory to the Delaware Hospice Center, at 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
