Rev. Herman W. Fry's Obituary
Rev. Herman Wesley Fry, age 83, of Rehoboth Beach, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes. He was born March 12, 1924 in Petersburg, VA, son of the late Charles R. and Annie May (Davis) Fry.
Rev. Fry attended the Petersburg public schools and continued his education at North Central University, Minneapolis, MN. He married his wife of 62 years, Lois A. (Doscher) Fry, formerly of Carteret, NJ, on October 14, 1945. Rev. Fry was ordained 58 years ago with the Assemblies of God. He has pastored various churches in Virginia, West Virginia, Florida and Maryland. His last pastorate before retiring in 1991 to Rehoboth Beach, DE was in Silver Spring, MD where he officiated for 17 years.
In his retirement years, he has enjoyed singing with the Barbershopeers (Nautical Sounds) in Bethany Beach, DE; participating in bible study groups and being with friends at McDonalds. He also enjoyed many a walk around Rehoboth Mall, golfing and traveling the country with his wife.
Rev. Fry and his wife have been active in many ways with the Midway Assembly of God congregation in Lewes. Over the years, he and his wife have orchestrated the music at church conventions and meetings and they organized the first Youth Camp for the Potomac District Council of the Assemblies of God. While serving in the Potomac District Council of the Assemblies of God, he held numerous ministerial positions, including Youth Director, Presbyter, Men's Fellowship, and Sunday School Director. Most of all, he loved to sing, quote scripture and he loved the Lord!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers. In addition to his beloved wife, Lois, he is survived by his daughter, June Toth of Scaggsville, MD; two sons, Paul Fry of Kearneysville, WV and Ken Fry of Burke, VA; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his sister, Ruth Fitch of Richmond, VA.
Funeral services led by Paster Gary Ross will be held Saturday, January 26, 2008, 11 AM at Midway Assembly of God Church, Route 1 and Old Postal Lane, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Conley's United Methodist Cemetery, Robinsonville Road, Lewes. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Enterprises, Inc., Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Midway Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 669, Lewes, DE 19958.
