Herb's contribution to AREMA and Railroading in general will be part of a legacy all will benefit from.
Herb "Grandpop" Archdeacon was an honorable man. He was the father my husband never had and did a fabulous job raising him. He was his best friend and the best man at our wedding. It couldn't have been more perfect. Grandpop was Christmas. We will honor and cherish you always. You will missed more than words can express.
I didn't have the privilege of knowing or corresponding with Herb, but his biography that tells of his large family, his devotion to education and research, and his railroad background are testimony enough to greatness. I offer my sincerest condolences.
