Helen (Walker) Springer's Obituary
Helen (Walker) Springer, age 77 of Lewes, DE, passed away after a sudden illness on Saturday, April 17, 2021. She was born on July 9, 1943 in Minquadale, DE, daughter of the late Walter and Grace (Dennie) Walker.
Mrs. Springer worked for many years as a Bookkeeper at Newarc Welding and Fabricating in Wilmington, DE and with Douglas E. Estep Public Accountant in New Castle, DE prior to retiring full time to Lewes, DE with her husband in 2008. Helen enjoyed monthly lunch dates with her friends, visits with family, reading books and playing games on her Kindle Fire, and putting together puzzles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Springer was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Gerald “Jerry” Springer; her brothers: Walter, Vernon, Arnold, and Daniel; and her sister, Margaret. She is survived by her son, Gerald Springer Jr. (Jay) and his wife Kim (Bushay) Springer of Eastampton, NJ; her grandchildren: Joshua and Jenna Springer of Eastampton, NJ; her brother, Charles Walker and sister-in-law, Betty (Thomas) Walker of Wilmington, DE; her sister, Patricia (Walker) Estep and brother-in-law, Douglas Estep of New Castle, DE; her sister, Beulah (Walker) Clark and brother-in-law, Edward Clark of California; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lewes, DE where Helen had been a resident since July of 2017 for their care and support over the last 4 years. The family also encourages everyone who can to consider making donations of blood to the Blood Bank of Delmarva or their nearest, most convenient blood donation center in her memory.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no in-person service.
