Helen Louise Somers' Obituary
Helen Louise (Taylor) Somers, age 80, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Boothwyn, PA, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at her residence with her son by her side.
Born n West Grove, PA on October 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Mavel Taylor. Mrs. Somers graduated from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, Philadelphia, PA, in 1947. She worked for 15 years and retired from Nevil Home, now called Valley View, in Elwyn, PA. She enjoyed baking desserts, Christmas cookies, pies on all holidays, and celebrating life with family and friends. She was a member of the Wilmington Club for the Deaf for many years and a member of Lancaster Senior Citizen Club in Lancaster, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gilbert Somers, brothers Bud Taylor and Francis Taylor, and her sister Bertha James. She is survived by her son Richard Somers of Lewes, with whom she lived; her brother Lewis Taylor of Toughkenson, PA; a very special friend, Jay Baker of Philadelphia, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 4, 2009, 11:00 AM, at St. Helena Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Bellefonte, Wilmington, DE. Father Anthony Russo will be the celebrant with Sister Kathleen Schepani interpreting. There will be no calling hours.
