Helen C. Rigler's Obituary
Helen C. Rigler, age 97 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born on October 6, 1923 in New Britain, CT, daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (Sochon) Chanko.
Mrs. Rigler enjoyed taking trips to Connecticut and visiting family and friends, until it became too difficult for her to travel. She was a faithful member of the Midway Assembly of God Church and loved the Lord, reading the Bible, and in her later years, listening to the Bible on CD. She had an extended church family who will miss her, but take comfort in the knowledge that she is now resting with Jesus. Mrs. Rigler was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rigler was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lt. Col. Raymond H. Rigler, Ret.; her brothers: Edward Chanko and Anthony Chanko; and her sisters: Anne Schoenewolff and Lucy Luebeck. She is survived by her children: Raymond Harry Rigler of Lewes, DE and Debra A. Eckrich (Paul) of Georgetown, DE; her grandchildren: Paul Michael, Katherine Ann, and Jennifer Marie; and her many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 5:30 PM, at Midway Assembly of God Church, 34677 Old Postal Lane, Lewes, DE. where friends may visit beginning at 5 PM.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks must be worn and social distancing must be observed by everyone attending.
Mrs. Rigler was an active member of the Midway Assembly of God Women's Ministry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in her memory to the ministry at 34677 Old Postal Lane, Lewes, DE 19958.
