Helen "Toots" May Lester's Obituary
Helen "Toots" May Lester, age 90, of Georgetown, Delaware, formerly of Lewes and St. Georges, Delaware, passed away peacefully at Harrison House of Georgetown on Friday April 16, 2010. She was born on May 1, 1919, daughter of the late Walter and Mary Ella Sentman Crompton. Mrs. Lester was affectionately given the nickname of "Toots" by her father; this name followed her throughout her life. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Claude E. Lester “Cobby” in 2002 and brothers Charles S. and Albert W. Crompton.
Mrs. Lester was a member of the St. Georges United Methodist Church and was an affiliate member of the Lewes Presbyterian Church. She loved to go to antique auctions and shows and loved to entertain her family and friends. However, devotion to her grandchildren was of utmost importance.
She is survived by her children, Claude E. Lester, Jr. “Ed” and wife Lynn of Millsboro, DE, Kenneth E. Lester and wife Robin and Larry W. Lester and wife Annie all of St. Georges, DE., six grandchildren-Brooke Darmstadter and husband Lee of Georgetown, DE, Jaime Lester of College Park, GA, Katie Lester of Lexington, VA, Sarah Lester of Boston, Mass., Alex Lester and Michael Lester both of St. Georges, DE., and two great grandchildren, Blair and Jake Darmstadter both of Georgetown, DE.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd – Carey Chapel, 307 North Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE. Family and friends may call at the funeral home for visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM at the St. Georges Cemetery, St. Georges, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the St. Georges United Methodist Church, 109 North Broad Street, St. Georges, DE 19733 or to the Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.
