Helen Hutsko's Obituary
Helen Hutsko, lovingly called “The Cookie Lady,” passed away in her sleep after a short illness on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 96. Daughter of the late John and Mary Harkovich, she was born in Scranton, PA, where she grew up.
Helen worked for many years in a dress factory in Scranton, PA until she retired as senior presser. During that time, she was a member of the Ladies International Garment Union. At a church dance Helen met her future husband and love of her life, Joe Hutsko, they were married in June of 1951. They had many happy years together, raising their children, Cindy and Joann. Helen enjoyed playing Mexican train and watching game shows. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Abood (John) of Lewes, DE, and Joann Bushag (Tim) of Dale City, VA; and her two “grand-dog daughters” Erika and Star. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Hutsko and several sisters and brothers.
Services honoring Helen will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
