Helen H. Scott's Obituary
Helen H. Scott passed away on September 10, 2014 at Cadbury At Lewes. She was born October 4, 1917 in High Point, N.C., daughter of the late Millard F. and Blanche C. Hunter.
Helen graduated from Greensboro, N.C. High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She married Captain Rodney A. Scott in June, 1945. They were married for 56 years until his death in September 2001. Judge Scott was the longest serving member of the judiciary in Illinois history, and Helen was by his side in his numerous campaigns for judicial office. Helen was active in civic activities in Decatur, IL. She was President of the Girl’s Welfare Home, President of the Shemamo Girl Scout Board, Deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and member of the Decatur and Macon County Hospital Auxiliary where she served as co-chairman of the Thrift Shop. Helen was also a member of PEO GR Chapter and the Country Club of Decatur. She played golf with her husband, friends, and the “nine-holers” at CCD until an advanced age.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Sally Scott Stokes (Judge Richard F. Stokes), granddaughter, Sarah Stokes Musser (Dr. R. Clayton Musser), grandson, R. Hunter Stokes, and great-grandsons, Luke and Adam Musser.
Burial will be private in Illinois.
