Helen Teresa Garey's Obituary
Helen Teresa Garey, age 78, of Milford, DE, passed away following complications from heart surgery, on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She was born in Milford, DE, on July 21, 1943, daughter of the late, Harvey and Violet Schrock.
Mrs. Garey married, Paul Roland Garey on June 18, 1960, at the Bethany Church of the Brethren in Farmington, DE. In addition to raising her family with Paul, she worked as a caretaker and an auction clerk throughout different periods of her life.
Mrs. Garey enjoyed a good yard sale and could often be found at an auction. Above all else she loved spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garey is preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul R. Garey and her son, Jefferson Paul Garey. She is survived by her son, John R. Garey and his wife, Carrie of Dover, DE; her brother, Robert O. Schrock and his wife Dolores of Greenwood, DE; her grandchildren: Wyeth Garey, Meagan Garey, Zachary Garey, Jordan Garey, and The Honorable Reneta Green-Street; two great grandchildren: Adelynn Rios and Auston Baker; as well as many nieces and nephews, too numerous to name.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE, where friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Friends may also call at the funeral home the evening prior, Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Burial will follow the service at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood, DE.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks are required to be worn by any and all persons participating in any aspect of the services.
