Obituary: Helen D. Blancke
Helen D. Blancke, "Dodie", age 90, of Henlopen Acres, De., passed away Sunday, December 3, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Blancke was born March 15, 1916 in Plainfield, NJ., daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (Brick) Doeringer and the beloved wife of the late Rudolph Charles Blancke, III. During the 1930's, she was model for Best & Company in New York.. She and her late husband lived in Howard County, Maryland from 1950 until their retirement to Rehoboth Beach in 1968. While living in Maryland Mrs. Blancke was a Charter member of the Howard County Garden Club; Howard County Hunt Club, & Saint John's Episcopal Church of Ellicott City.
While living in Rehoboth Beach, she was a member of the Sussex County Garden Club, an avid supporter of the Rehoboth Art League, a member of the Henlopen Acres Beach Club, Kings Creek Country Club and Rehoboth Beach Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf, was an avid bridge player, bird watcher and being out and enjoying nature, especially the ocean. Mrs. Blancke was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church of Rehoboth Beach, DE. She was also active in several community charities.
She is survived by a Son - Rudolph C. Blancke, IV & his wife Karen of Rehoboth Beach, DE.; 2 Daughters - Tao B. Lehman of Amelia Island, FL.; and Jane W. Pitman & her (husband) Woodrow, Jr. of Baldwin, MD.; 6 Grandchildren - Gretchen Cannon & her(husband) John of Glen Arm, MD.; Woodrow Pitman III of Baltimore, MD.; Kimberly Holbrook & her(husband) Josh of Holly, MI.; Torri Lehman of Newport Beach, CA.; Kelley Blancke of Plymouth, MI.; Tasha Carver & her (husband) Drew of Denver, CO.; and 4 Great Grandchildren - Jack & Charles Cannon, Dylan & Logan Holbrook.
Memorial Services will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. on Friday, December 8, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Max Wolf officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to: Rehoboth Art League , 12 Dodds Lane, Rehoboth Beach,DE. 19971 or All Saints Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE.
