Harvey James Bunting's Obituary
Harvey James Bunting, age 84, of Harbeson, Del., died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. .
Mr. Bunting was born on November 10, 1923 in Bethany Beach, Delaware son of the late John Gunzer Bunting and the late Florrie Belle (Fenton) Bunting. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by brothers Gunzer, Roy, George & Alvin Bunting and sister Ev va Townsend.
He was a retired Civil Engineer with his career covering service at Ft. Miles, Lewes, DE from 1942 to late 1950's and then at the Dover Air Force Base until July 1980 when he retired. He was a member of the Groome Untied Methodist Church for many years. His involvement in the community included being a 32 degree mason and Past Master (1987) of the Jefferson Lodge, Lewes, DE, member and Past Patron of the Georgetown Chapter #9 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Grand Patron of State Chapter Order of the Eastern Star from 1969-1970, member of the Scottish Rite, member and former Clown "EYEBALLS" at Nur Temple, founding member of the Delaware Colonials, and Past Associate Bethel Guardian #5 Independent Order of Jobs Daughters. He also had severd as a Scouting Co-ordinator for boy scouts.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years who celebrated their anniversary on Aug 9th, Anne Louise (Wagamon) Bunting; Daughter, Mary Lou (Bunting) Lawlor & husband Mark of Wilmington, DE. Three Sons, Stephen K. Bunting of Alexandria, Va. Thomas A. Bunting and fiancee' Jodie Kelly of Annapolis, Md., Rev. Dr. Jay E. Bunting and wife Rev. Dr.Carolyn Bunting of Oxford, Md., granddaughter Jessica Newell and husband Jeff of Wilmington DE. and great grandson Andrew Patrick Newell and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, 2008 with the Rev. William Hopkins officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM where OES and Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM. Burial will follow the funeral at Coolspring Cemetery, near Lewes, DE. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Groome United Methodist Church Building Fund P.O.
