Harry Franklin Twyman's Obituary
Harry Franklin Twyman was born on December 29th, 1953, in Washington, West Virginia to the late Dorothy Virginia Jenkins, and the late James Harrison Twyman. He departed this life on January 6th, 2025, at Sussex BayHealth Hospital in Milford Delaware.
Harry was fostered and raised by Andrew and Beatrice Kelley in Harmony, Maryland. He enjoyed spending time with his family on the eastern shore as well as spending time with his family in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Harry attended Colonel Richardson High School and later served in the United States Army. He married the love of his life Jacquline Virginia Sabb- Twyman on November 18th, 1989. Harry and his wife settled in Bridgeville, Delaware. They were married for 35 years.
Harry retired from Perdue Farms (Georgetown, Delaware) after 30 years. He was a groundskeeper who prided himself in his work. Harry was known to be a very hardworking man by everyone that knew him.
Harry loved football, especially his Dallas Cowboys. Win or lose, he was a true fan. He also loved sweets, of any kind, especially pie. Harry was a Budweiser enthusiast and liked collecting memorabilia. Harry was known for making the best cups of coffee. He could wash a car better than any car wash, listening to his Keith Sweat and cleaning a car for hours. He also loved music. His grandkids say he had one memorable playlist. They would also jokingly tell him that “A tube of caulking would hate to see him coming”. He was not a Mr. Fix It.
Harry was straight forward honest and lacked pretension. A person always knew where you stood with him. If Harry loved you, he showed you and he told you.
He loved his group of friends. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, including the late “Pete” Bagwell, and you would always hear him talking about Sybil, Gene, Grayland or James. He always said, “Those are my boys”.
Harry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He found great joy in spending time with his family and extended family, and loved hosting events at his home.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, foster parents, granddaughter Equanna Duncan, three brothers: Jack Twyman, Andrew Kelley Jr, and James “Tubby” Twyman and sister Dorothy Campbell.
Harry leaves cherished memories with his wife of 35 years, Jacquline Twyman; two daughters, Bonte Abrams (David) Baltimore, MD, Jamie Curry (Jeremiah) Bridgeville, DE; stepdaughter Andrea Jones (Stephen) Dover, DE; two sons: Donte Twyman, Federalsburg MD, and Anthony Cheers Seaford, DE; seven grandsons, Robert, Nick. Jamez, Jesyr. Jeremiah, Devontae, and Tiyon; three granddaughters, Jyrah, Jakriah, and Antasia; and one great grandson Messiah.
He is also survived by eleven sisters: Mary Twyman Brooklyn NY, Carrie Taylor (Charles), Philadelphia, PA, Catherine Goodman (Steve), Philadelphia PA, Charity Clement and Eloise Kelley Brooklyn NY, Hazel Prattis and Lillian Cannon, Wilmington, DE, Blanche Olivier (Cecil), Newark, DE, Tessie Madden (Robert) Baltimore MD, Hattie Jackson, Washington D.C and Eliza Twyman, Maryland); two brothers: Purcell Kelley (Veronica), Forsyth, Georgia, and Henry Twyman, Baltimore MD. He will be missed by a host of nieces and nephews as well as his favorite four-legged son Alpha.
Funeral services will take place Friday, January 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Hardesty Chapel, 202 S. Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933. A viewing will take place at 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ellendale Cemetery.
