Harry A. Twilley's Obituary
Harry A. Twilley, age 66, of Angola, DE passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE. He was born in Wilmington, DE on October 27, 1947, son of the late Harry A. and Lillian "Dorothy" Ella (Gillespie) Twilley.
Mr. Twilley was born and raised in Delaware, spending several years living in Wilmington, Dover, and Frederica. Following his graduation from DeLaWarr High School in 1965, he immediately entered the US Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, Mr. Twilley worked for several years in the Shipping and Loading Department at DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE. Later he would work driving for Oriel Chemical Carriers LLC in New Castle, DE. However, entrepreneurship was in Mr. Twilley's DNA, he was part owner of a speed shop, a salvage yard and several automobile sales lots.
Mr. Twilley was a car enthusiast, spending countless hours rebuilding and racing cars in local demolition derbies. He also enjoyed riding and rebuilding old Yamaha motorcycles, which he had for many years. He was a jokester at heart, telling stories like no one else ever could. His sense of humor and storytelling capabilities were with him to the end. Mr. Twilley will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend to everyone that knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Twilley was preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Bob" R. Twilley. He is survived by his two sons: Harry Andrew Twilley and his wife Gidget of Jefferson, NC and Tom Twilley of Frederica, DE; his four daughters: Kimberly Shoun and her husband John of Smyrna, DE; Angel M. Twilley-Harrison and her husband Tom of Millsboro, DE; Michele Twilley and her fiancé Tom of Georgetown, DE and Crystal Twilley and her fiancé Stephen Jackson of Milford, DE; his six grandchildren: Brittany Shoun, Angel Noel Twilley, Bridget Twilley, Keith Shoun, Tony Harrison and Abby Harrison; his two sisters: Susan L. Stabley and her husband Steve of Bear, DE and Alice Boulden of Wilmington, DE; his nephew, Steve Stabley Jr.; his nieces: Stephanie L. Stabley, Alice Lang, Saraphine Neidig, Erin Neidig and many other nephews and nieces; his beloved chocolate lab, Mason and his chubby luvvy pit mix, Nyla.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013, at 11:30 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE, where friends may call starting at 10:30 AM. Immediately following Funeral Services, Mr. Twilley will take one last motorcycle ride in a Motorcycle Hearse while in procession to Interment Services with Military Honors at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
