Harry W. Henkel's Obituary
Harry W. Henkel Sr., 84 of Ocean View, DE passed away peacefully on September 30, 2011. The son of the late Benjaman and Elizabeth Hanan Henkel, he was born and raised in Philadelphia before moving to Aldan, PA where he raised a family.
Mr. Henkel was a World War II Veteran who served in the Army April 8, 1946 until June 30, 1948. He worked as an R&D Machinist at Boeing Helicopters in Ridley, PA for 32 years before retiring to Delaware in 1988. He was a life member of Mason Dixon Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 7234 in Ocean View, DE, where he was a past Post Commander and held other offices and chairmanships. He was also a member of the Coastguard Auxiliary at Indian River Inlet. Harry enjoyed being everyone’s handyman, fishing, woodworking, and playing shuffle board.
He was predeceased in death by his loving wife of 42 years, June Gilbert Henkel, who passed in 2003.
He is survived by his sons Harry Henkel Jr. (Kim) of Milmont Park, PA and Larry Mushlit (Joann) of Springfield, PA; his daughters Joyce Hennessey of Woodbury Heights, NJ, Susan Martin (Kevin) of West Chester, PA and June M. Henkel of Millsboro, DE; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a sister Elizabeth Luciotti of Yardley, PA.
Memorial Services will be held 10 AM Friday, October 7, 2011 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
