Harriet Mildred Evans' Obituary
Harriet Mildred Evans, age 85, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Brookfield, CT, on Tuesday, April 6, 1926, daughter of the late Irving Pettit and Marjorie Waldo Pettit and had lived in Brookfield, Connecticut all her life until moving to Lewes six years ago.
For many years she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business. She was an avid shopper, enjoyed going to casinos and traveling anywhere and everywhere with her husband.
She is survived by her husband Donald R. Evans; son Roy Pitcher of Danbury, CT; three daughters: Donna Wright of Waterbury, CT, Lisa Romano of Harbeson, DE, and Dawn Beach of Lewes, DE; her grandchildren: Felicia Gilmore, Tyler Pitcher, Jennipher Wright, Richard Wright, Anthony Romano, Matthew Romano, Chase Beach, Macy Beach; 4 great-grandchildren; and her sister Virginia Montessi of Hartford, CT. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank you goes to her caretakers Jackie, Renee, and Pat who became a part of our family. Their excellent care of Harriet when her daughter Donna or husband Donald needed a respite was most comforting. The family especially wishes to thank Vitas Hospice and Margie Bloom from Christiana Care for their loving care.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call one half hour prior to services. Burial will follow the services at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
A Memorial Service will also be held in Bethel, Connecticut at the Walnut Hill Community Church on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2 PM.
