Harold Joseph Maloney's Obituary
Harold J. Maloney, 89, passed away at home on Saturday, February 13, 2015 with his wife of 65 years at his side.
Mr. Maloney was a native Delawarean who proudly served his country. He joined the U.S. Navy as a young man and served in the China Fleet in World War II. He then joined the United States Army Reserves where he retired as a Lt. Colonel. During that time, he received the Meritorious Service Medal. His service with the Army was a source of great pride and enjoyment. Additionally, he worked for the U.S. Treasury Department for 28 years.
He was a nationally ranked Distinguished Marksman with the Army, a Delaware State Pistol Champion and was appointed to the Delaware Select Marksmanship Group known as the “Governor’s Twenty”.
Friends have noted that his greatest love in life were his “three girls”, his wife and 2 daughters.
Mr. Maloney is survived by his wife, Chervyl “Sis” Ritchie Maloney and daughters Shae Maloney Searl (Alec) and Patti Maloney. He was a proud grandfather of Jenni Collins Brand (Rob), Tori Searl, Tim Searl (Anne), Christy Searl Haegele (John), Sutton Ward, Tyler Ward, Hallie Ward and great-grandfather of Jamie Brand, Jack Haegele and Justin Searl.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond “Tobe” and Pearl B. Maloney, sister Patsy Maloney, brother Jack Maloney and grandson Tyler Ward.
