H. Ross Black lll's Obituary
H. Ross Black III, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at the hospital. Born on October 19, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, Ross was the beloved son of the late Dorothy (Heil) and Harvey R. Black Jr.
A proud native of Baltimore, Ross attended school through the 10th grade before beginning a long and dedicated career as an auto mechanic. Later in life, he worked in auto parts sales, where his passion for cars and engines never waned. Ross' deep knowledge of automobiles and his strong work ethic earned him the respect and trust of both customers and colleagues alike.
Ross married his beloved wife, Evelyn E. Black, in Georgetown, Delaware. Their marriage was one of mutual devotion, companionship, and many cherished memories.
A lifelong NASCAR fan, Ross loved nothing more than watching a good race, especially when his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Sr., was on the track. He was also a loyal supporter of the Baltimore Ravens, rarely missing a game.
Ross was predeceased by his parents and former wife, Faunda. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Black, his beloved daughter Carrie Black, and his brother, John Black (Patti). He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including Jim Black, Sarah Black, Michael Black, Jill Black, Savannah Black, Andrew Black, Lucy Black, Maggie Black, Ollie Black, Hannah Yowells, Jacob Yowells and Maddie Yowells, Bill Black, Sally Bittinger, Butch Garrity, and bonus family Michael Hanahoe, Sara Hanahoe, Allie Moreland, Ariel Moreland, Ellie Dotson, Elliott Dotson, and life-long friend Rod Charlton.
Ross will be remembered for his warmth, his loyalty, and his unwavering love for family, cars, and racing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
