Guy S. Townsend, Jr., age 73 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, at his home. He was born on October 10, 1948, in Chester, PA, son of the late Guy S. and Doris (Hines) Townsend. Guy was a graduate of Sun Valley Hig Read Obituary
Sue and family, Ed and I were so sorry to hear about Guy. We always enjoyed seeing both of you at events. Guy was a wonderful person and he will be missed. The service was a beautiful tribute to a special man. Cathy and Ed Tessein
I enjoyed working with Guy on the Dirty Hands Gang at Lightship Overfalls. He was always energetic and great to be around. When I first moved here and joined the DHG, I enjoyed our Friday breakfasts together. He helped me learn my way around the area and pointed me in the right direction. He certainly made my retirement transition much easier. I liked his common sense perspective on things and matter-of-fact way about solving problems on the ship. I will miss Guy and send my condolences to Sue and the Townsend family.
My sincerest condolences to Sue, family, friends and loved ones. The greatest compliment I would give anyone is that they light up the world and Guy did just that. Days playing Pickleball with him were always more fun. I will miss him!
I first got to know Guy when I was volunteering for Lewes in Bloom. We worked together on several projects and enjoyed each other's company. As time marched on Guy volunteered to help plant 8,000 daffodils and other plantings in G. H. P. Smith Park. He was always ready to volunteer. We then started to attend happy hours at various restaurants in town with our wives and neighborhood friends. Guy was always the life of the party. We became great friends and rode bikes together doing the 18 mile loop from Lewes to Rehoboth and back. I will miss Guy and will think of him often.
